The product analyst participates in the analysis and development of the company's product offerings, pricing, and competitive position for Property and Auto products. Coordinates the implementation of new rating plans, underwriting rules, process improvements, and other initiatives to support profitable growth.

Responsibilities:

* Gathers data, conducts analysis, and develops recommendations impacting product features, pricing, underwriting, and distribution. Collaborates with other functional areas such as Sales, Service, Claims, Information Systems, Production, and Compliance to assess the potential effects of these changes and incorporate these considerations into recommendations.

* Primary contact for regional management on underwriting rules, pricing structure, and performance reporting for assigned product lines.

* Manages the introduction of coverage and rate changes for assigned product lines. Develops business requirements and discusses specifications with Information Systems team. Prepares revisions to underwriting and rating manuals for submission to state regulatory agencies, and drafts responses to questions from regulatory analysts.

* Assists in special projects by performing analysis upon management request, focusing on the retrieval and evaluation of internal and external data in order to answer key business questions.

* Performs other duties as needed.


Requirements

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or Insurance preferred; or equivalent experience.

* Approximately 2 to 4 years related work experience.

* Proficient in Excel & PowerPoint.

* Must have good planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.

* Must be able to complete assigned projects with little supervision.

* Knowledge of rate-making procedures preferred.

* Basic knowledge of insurance principles/ laws/ regulations, underwriting rules and guidelines, policy contract coverages and conditions, rating manual rules are preferred.

* Understanding of functions of various departments such as statistical, sales, and underwriting.
